The Woman Behind Court Couture

It has been said that women can do anything men can do, only they do it in heels. In that same spirit, the Court Couture line of tennis bags caters to women who want to play hard on the courts and look fabulous while doing it.

Court Couture bags shine with croc-embossed faux leather and high fashion curves, they are lined with natural cotton and latch with silver or gold hardware for a punch of sophistication.

Stephanie Sumarsono, owner and designer of Court Couture tennis bags said, in an interview that, before she came out with her line of women's tennis bags there were no other options for women than Wilson, Bobolat, or Nike, which at the time had no fashionable options for women.

Sumarsono has a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and Industrial Arts and she said some of her favorite designers are Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton and Yves Saint Laurent (she mentioned the Muse handbag).

In 2008, Sumarsono ranked number four in the NorCal women's single 3.0. Today she is rated 3.5 USTA and plays in the interclub at a private tennis club.

"Many club tennis players are busy moms or busy career women," Sumarsono said. "We want a bag that will fit our lifestyle."

She said that Court Couture bags double as laptop bag, shopping bag, travel bag, or diaper bag, "but don't say that one too loud."

"These bags are big enough to fit almost any role these women need," Sumarsono said

Many Court Couture bags come with a matching, removable cosmetic pouch and have interior water bottle, cell phone and wallet compartments. The tote style of the Cassanova and Savannah collections offer more room than the Barcelona bags, which still hold up to three oversized racquets and a ball tube.

"Women want style, we want to look good on the court and we want our bag to match our cute miniskirt and shoes," Sumarsono said. "Who would want to carry those nylon bags to the court anymore?"

In addition to couture design, Court Couture tennis bags come in sheik colors: black, gold, obsidian, leopard print and pink, which is the new black.

Sumarsono said that idea of designing tennis bags started in 2008.

"I did a lot of research finding the right factory that could deliver my exact requirements and specifications for the design of the bag," she said.

She contacted factories across the world searching for the best materials She received her first bag on July, 15 of 2009 and set that as the birth date of her company.

Today, over 125 retailers sell Court Couture bags and they have even been used on the set of ABC's "Pretty little liars."

Her clients include tennis boutiques and country club specialty stores, such as the Pebble Beach Golf Resort in California, the Tennis Hall of Fame in Rhode Island and the oldest country club in the United States, the Congregational Country Club.

The designer of Court Couture tennis bags is a woman who understands the style and grace of modern women who must have it all together as they are running out the door.
